St Nicholas Pathways
The St Nicholas Pathways school-based traineeship (SBAT Program) provides Year 11 and 12 students with a unique educational opportunity and exciting career prospects. It is the first program of its type in the early education and care sector in the Hunter.
The SBAT Program allows students to attain entry level qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Care whilst completing their HSC, providing them with a qualification that can lead directly to employment as well as an opportunity to continue their learning pathway with advanced entry into university.
A range of mentors will provide school-based trainees with solid support throughout the program, from sign-up to completion.
As part of the traineeship, participants will undertake their formal training component with International Child Care College (RTO ID 90081). Please click here to learn more about training with International Child Care College. Training will be complemented by 100 days of paid on-the-job training at one of the Catholic Diocese’s six St Nicholas Early Education centres.
The opportunity to complete this on-the-job training within a St Nicholas Early Education centre provides each trainee with an authentic experience of working in the early childhood education and care sector. Additionally, it provides trainees with a unique opportunity to display their talent, aptitude and professionalism to St Nicholas educators, making them well placed to apply for jobs at St Nicholas Early Education upon completion of the traineeship.
As part of a pilot program, St Nicholas Pathways enrolled its first school-based trainee in February 2019.
